Old Photographs

Looking through some photos from the album of my mind
I came across your picture, though faded with some time.
It seems so long ago, yet just like yesterday,
It's hard for me to focus on that stormy, summer day.

For pictures in my memory will not allow the pain
Instead I view a couple, with everything to gain
A picture tells a thousand things, from that I cannot hide
But the memory of our being cannot so easy be denied.

Must I have been so blind that day, never to have seen
What your eyes were saying, what you were telling me.
Yet on closer look, I see your interest wane
In that very picture I see your hidden pain

The pain to have to tell me that another took my place
The picture becomes clearer, in the cold of your embrace.
Yes, looking through some photographs, I came upon a time,
So painful, yet so vivid it was hidden in my mind.

I know exactly how you feel, to miss what was so plain in sight to everyone and than to lose it when you don't take it in time

Yes, and it's like your mind "blocks" these painful incidents so you don't have to feel the pain. But as we all know it's still there in the unconscious mind and sometimes in order to "move on" we have to examine these feelings more closely so we can "see" more clearly, perhaps helping us to avoid the same event next time. I appreciate your comment.
